Our Georgetown Food Tour takes you to the historic yet chic charm of Georgetown, an area that pre-dated Washington DC. Long before it became popular by the Kennedys and the home of high end retail and fashion, Georgetown was a working class port city pre-dating the Federal City of Washington DC. Its roots are still very much alive and can be seen in the red brick townhomes, and turn of the century factories that are found throughout the area.
Beneath the blue-suit, ID-badge aesthetic of Washington sits a rich subculture of all things artistic, innovative, and hip. That part of the District is alive and well in the Northwest neighborhood of Dupont Circle, home to some of D.C.’s most unique shops, galleries, traditions, and, of course, food and drink.
U Street, known as "Black Broadway", has been the heart of the African American music scene for over half a century. Once the home of Duke Ellington, it remains a vibrant and exciting neighborhood with some of the best cuisine in the city.
We will take you through historic U Street to 9th street as we visit the heart of the world’s largest Ethiopian community outside of Ethiopia. Your gastronomic experience will chronicle the intricate flavors, textures, and colors in Ethiopian cuisine, while recounting the history of the Ethiopian people.
